The joint project of Star Cinema and Viva Films–”It Takes A Man and a Woman”–reportedly grossed a whopping P32.6 million on its first day of release, the biggest opening day record for a Filipino movie for 2013 so far.
The romantic-comedy movie which is the final installment in the “Laida-Miggy” series of films starring John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo registered the 2nd biggest single day earnings for all time, just around P8 million short of “Sisterakas’” which grossed 40.7 million on Christmas Day last year.
The figure was announced by Mico del Rosario, advertising and promotions manager of Star Cinema, on Twitter earlier today:
“P32.6M first day opening gross for It Takes A Man and A Woman! Congratulations everyone!! To God be the Glory.”
The first two films in the series made John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo the Box Office King and Queen, respectively. The first film, “A Very Special Love,” made P179.3 million in 2008. The sequel “You Changed My Life” grossed P225.2 million in 2009.
Earlier this week, “It Takes a Man and a Woman” received a grade of “A” from the Cinema Evaluation Board (CEB).
