DOST Scholarship Exam for 2014-15 application is now open, exam date bared!

The Department of Science and Technology-Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) through the Department of Education (DepEd) announces on Friday that the DOST-SEI Science and Technology Undergraduate Scholarship exam for AY 2014-2015 is on September 22, 2013 (Sunday) in designated testing centers nationwide.


The scholarship is open to all qualified graduating high school students from public and private high schools nationwide. DOST offers two types of undergraduate scholarships – RA7687 for qualified applicants who belong to families with low socio-economic status and MERIT for qualified applicants regardless of their families’ socio-economic status.

Criteria for Eligibility for RA 7687 Undergraduate Scholarship
1. natural-born Filipino citizen
2. poor, talented, and deserving student who belongs to a family whose socio-economic status does not exceed the set values of certain indicators.
3. top five percent (5%) of the regular high school graduating class; or
4. member of the graduating class of a DOST-SEI identified or DepEd recognized science high school.
5. resident of the municipality for the last four years as attested by the barangay;
6. of good moral character and in good health
7. qualifier of the 2014 S&T Scholarship examination

Criteria for Eligibility for Merit Undergraduate Scholarship
1. natural-born Filipino citizen
2. top five percent (5%) of the regular high school graduating class; or
3. member of the graduating class of a DOST-SEI identified or DepEd recognized science high school.
4. of good moral character and in good health
5. qualifier of the 2014 S&T Scholarship examination
Deadline of application form submission is August 23, 2013, DOST said.

Application forms can be obtained at the Science Education Institute, 2/F Science Heritage Building, DOST Compound, Bicutan, Taguig City, DOST Regional offices or downloaded from the DOST scholarships website at or here.

Accomplished form can be filed at the Science Education Institute or DOST Regional Office/PSTC nearest the applicant’s school or home address.

Passers of 2014 DOST Scholarship exam will have the following privileges:
– tuition and other school fees ( P8,000/sem for RA7687 and Merit)
– book allowance of P5,000 per year
– PE uniform allowance of P500 for the first semester of the year
– transportation allowance

Philippine Science High School Entrance Exam for SY 2014-15 is now open!

The Philippine Science High School (PSHS) announced that applications for National Competitive Examination (NCE) or entrance exam on September 28, 2013 for School Year (SY) 2014-2015 is now open.


Here’s the details of announcement from PSHS:

A grade 6 pupil* from a duly recognized school by the Department of Education who meets the following criteria is eligible to apply for the PSHS National Competitive Examination (NCE).

He / She must:
1. belong to the upper 10% of the batch (SY 2012-2013) and does not have a grade below 80% as certified by the School Principal or Registrar. If the applicant does not belong to the upper 10%, he/she should have special aptitude in Science and Math as evidenced by the report card, with at least a final grade of 85% in Science and Math and 80% in all other subjects;

2. be a Filipino citizen with no pending application as immigrant to any foreign country;

3. be born on or after June 1, 1999;

4. be in good health and fit to undergo a rigorous academic program;

5. be of good conduct and behavior; and

6. not have taken the PSHS NCE previously.

* i.e. in his/her 6th year of basic elementary education (exclusive of kindergarten and preparatory school)

1.Fully accomplished Application Form in two (2) copies
2.Two (2) identical recent 1×1 ID pictures
3.Non-refundable test fee (Php 100 for private schools, free for public schools)
4.Copy of report card (SY 2012-2013)

Only one test will be administered, a scholastic aptitude test (known as National Competitive Examination) which is designed to measure Scientific Ability, Quantitative Ability, Abstract Reasoning, and Verbal Aptitude. The NCE will be administered on September 28, 2013.

The PSHS NCE Application Form and the accompanying material are not for sale, may be photocopied, and may be downloaded through this link. No reservation fee is required.

Application forms are also available and may be filed at any of the following: PSHS campuses, DOST Regional offices, or Provincial Science and Technology Offices. Application forms with incomplete information will not be processed. Erasures, alterations and insertions must be initialed by the applicant.

The Examination Permit(s) will be issued to the applicants upon completion of all documents by the campus where the application was processed. For applications filed with DOST agencies, the exam permits will be mailed to the applicant, or to the School Principal for distribution to its applicant(s).

In case the exam permits are not received two (2) weeks before the examination day, the applicants should check with the nearest PSHS campus, DOST Regional Office, DOST Provincial Science and Technology Office, or the PSHS System Admissions Office.

** The deadline for filing of application is on August 2, 2013.
** The date of the examination is on September 28, 2013.

Applicants from public schools will not pay for the test fee but private school applicants will pay a non-refundable test fee of P100.

‘Istorifik’ Presents the Return of Robin Dude!

The tandem of Akihiro Blanco and Chanel Morales returns this Sunday as the adventures of Robin Dude continue on “Istorifik: Pidol’s Kwetong Fantastik” for the month of July on TV5.


Akihiro plays Hiro, a young man who grew up in the slums, and was given a magical bow and arrow that transforms him to the masked hero, Robin Dude. Hiro is enamored by the beauty of Marian (Chanel Morales), a young student whom she saved from danger in his past adventure.

The two meet the family of Dr. Magno (Lloyd Samartino) and his two children Trevor (AJ Muhlach) and Jana (Marvelous Alejo). But danger lurks nearby, as Gecko (Lucky Mercado), a human-turned-gecko, is endangering people in Pasong Makipot. One of the people that Robin Dude will save from danger is Jana, who is thankful and smitten for the young hero.

The blind auditions are halfway done and coaches Apl de Ap, Sarah Geronimo, Bamboo, and Ms. Lea Salonga continue their search to complete the 12-artist slots to form their respective teams in the country’s top-rating and weekly Twitter trending singing-reality show, “The Voice of the Philippines.”


Out of the 12 members required per team, Team Apl, Team Sarah, and Team Bamboo already have six artists each, while Team Lea has five.
