MMK Classics line-up on TFC for March 2013 revealed!

MMK Classics, The Filipino Channel’s (TFC) first program to be sub-titled in English ends the first quarter with a powerful line-up of stories that test the spirit and of people who stand up for what they believe in.

Starting on March 2 (March 3 Pacific time), MMK Classics recalls the tragic story of Tara Santelices, a Political Science student from the Ateneo de Manila University in Quezon City in the Philippines, who took a shot gun wound to her head after an armed man robbed an entire jeepney on the eve of her birthday.  Prior to the robbery, Santelices fought for a lot of advocacies.  In the end, it turned out that her greatest battle was to be for her life.  Karylle plays Santelices in this episode entitled Gitara (Guitar).

The following week on March 9 (March 10 Pacific time), another young Filipino – Efren Peñaflorida -  is shown to fight for another cause – the education of less fortunate children.  At the age of 16,  Peñaflorida  established the Dynamic Teen Company – a small but outstanding group that provides alternative education by recreating school settings in unconventional locations such as cemeteries and dump sites.  Enchong Dee, a young achiever himself, portrays Peñaflorida in this episode called Kariton (Cart).

On March 16 (March 17 Pacific time), MMK Classics dramatizes the life of Juana Tejada, a Filipina caregiver who fought for the rights of fellow caregivers until she had to face her own battle – the fight against colon cancer.  Because of her advocacy, the Juana Tejada law was enacted.  Maricar Reyes portrays Tejada in this episode entitled Niagra Falls.

On March 23 (March 24 Pacific time), MMK Classics shifts gears as it tells the story of Camille and Mio, two people from the opposite sides of the social world.  Camille is a beautiful woman from the upper middle class whose parents wish her an even better life with an affluent man.  In a cruise, she meets Mio, a man with a simple background but noble intentions.  Worlds apart and yet forced together for days, Camille and Mio face emotional tension ahead.  Real-life partners Bea Alonzo and Zanjoe Marudo portray Camille and Mio in the episode Barko (Ship).

Lastly on March 30 (March 31 Pacific time), then popular love team Roxanne Guinoo (Sheila in this episode) and Joross Gamboa (Dennis) portray two pen pals who find love despite the distance.  The question that besets them in this episode dubbed Bibliya (Bible) is will they also choose worldly love when inner calling heeds.

Enchong Dee OUT, Coco Martin IN, as escort of Julia Montes’ debut!

Julia Montes will be celebrating her 18th birthday with a debut party next month!

She personally invited Coco Martin to be her escort and she even revealed that former suitor Enchong Dee will not be part of the traditional 18 roses dance for her party.

The reason that Enchong could not make it to her party is because of prior commitments. But she originally have him on the list.

This is what Julia said:

“Lahat ng nasa 18 roses, lahat ‘yon friend ko. ‘Yun lang, may prior schedule siya (Dee), ayaw naman ng team ko na mabungi ‘yung 18 roses.”

ABS-CBN’s top caliber family drama series “Ina Kapatid Anak” continues to soar high in national TV ratings as proven by the latest data from Kantar Media on Monday (January 7) when it once again took the no.1 spot in the list of overall top programs in the country.

The most talked about teleserye of Kim Chiu, Xian Lim, Enchong Dee and Maja Salvador recently   garnered a national TV rating of 33%, while its two rival programs in GMA, ‘Aso Ni San Roque’ and ‘Pahiram Ng Sandali’ only scored 17.5% and 16.3%, respectively.

“Ina Kapatid Anak” beats pilot episode of “Pahiram ng Sandali”!

ABS-CBN’s top caliber family drama series, “Ina Kapatid Anak” topbilled by Kim Chiu, Xian Lim, Enchong Dee and Maja Salvador trounced its newest rival program in GMA by almost 16 points.

Based on the data from Kantar Media on Monday (November 26), “Ina Kapatid Anak” garnered 32.9% national TV ratings, while the pilot episode of its latest competition “Pahiram ng Sandali” only got 17.5%. The Kapamilya series also ruled its timeslot last Friday (November 23) with 31.9% national TV ratings, or almost 14 points higher than the final episode of “Coffee Prince: Pinoy Version” which only got 18.2%.

Meanwhile, the plot of “Ina Kapatid Anak” continues to thicken now that Julio (Ariel Rivera) already found Teresa (Cherry Pie Picache). Will this be the start of more heated confrontations between their families? Will Teresa be forced to reveal Celyn’s (Kim) real identity or will she keep on hiding it?

ABS-CBN’s new family drama series “Ina Kapatid Anak,” instantly won the hearts of viewers nationwide as it clinched the sixth spot of the overall top TV programs in the country.

Based on the data from Kantar Media, the top-rating teleserye starred by Kim Chiu, Xian Lim, Enchong Dee, and Maja Salvador garnered an average national TV rating of 27.8%.

The primetime series which started airing last October 8 also features highly-acclaimed seasoned actors Janice de Belen, Cherry Pie Picache and Ariel Rivera; and well-respected veteran stars Ronaldo Valdez, Pilar Pilapil and Eddie Guiterrez. It is directed by Don Cuaresma and Jojo Saguin.
