Bea Alonzo torn between Dingdong Dantes and Enrique Gil in “She’s the One”!

They are three of this generation’s biggest stars. He is a two-time Best Actor winner and one of the top leading men in television and film. She is the undisputed box-office queen and he is one of the hottest young actor today. They have earned the respect of critics and the support of their audience. But they have never done a project together—until now.

This October, on its 20th anniversary, Star Cinema brings to the big screen Dingdong Dantes, Enrique Gil and Bea Alonzo in “She’s The One”, a story that combines the excitement of an unexpected romance with the epiphany that comes with finding the one person you can’t live without.

“She’s The One” hits theaters on October 16 and is directed by Mae Cruz from a story and script by the award-winning Vanessa Valdez. It also stars upcoming screen sweetheart Liza Soberano in her biggest, most important and most challenging film role to date.

After giving life to some of the screen’s most iconic female characters—Basha in One More Chance, Lara in And I Love You So, Mia in Miss You Like Crazy and Sari in The Mistress—Bea Alonzo brings viewers another one in this, her latest film project. Cat Aguinaldo is a young woman for whom family responsibility has always come first. The cat always stands by the side of her best friend Wacky (Dingdong), a morning show host and serial dater who unwittingly pushes his best friend into a complicated romantic situation just to save his TV career. By the time he realizes what he’s done and confronts his own feelings, it may be too late.

Dingdong returns to the Star Cinema fold after successful team-ups with Kris Aquino in Segunda Mano and Angelica Panganiban and Angel Locsin in One More Try. “She’s The One” is his first time to work with Bea Alonzo.

The film is woven around the idea of an “epiphany”, or that one moment in life when we finally find the answer that will change everything. But we may find ourselves asking, how far are we willing to go when we do?

Enrique Gil’s “King of the Gil” album cover and track list revealed!

Due to insistent public demand, Star Records has launched the highly anticipated first-ever album of primetime TV’s ‘Next Ultimate Leading Man’ and this generation’s ‘Dougie King’ Enrique Gil.

Enrique’s debut album under Star Records is titled ‘King of the GIL,’ which according to the singer-actor, was a result of his habit of tirelessly trying out something new. “After dancing and acting, a lot of people encouraged me to try singing. And then I was formally offered to do an album. I just said, ‘Sure, let’s try it,” narrated Enrique. “The moment I heard the songs that I recorded, I felt that it was a dream that unexpectedly came true.”

The “Muling Buksan Ang Puso” star further shared that he was hands-on in the production of his debut CD with the support of Fil Music’s hit hiphop album producer Thyro and hiphop artist Paw Chavez. “I wanted to create my own flavor and share my side of music that I haven’t heard yet from current recording artists. The album is more of house, hiphop, upbeat,” he said. “My album is actually just like me; it will get and keep you dancing. A listener will feel the urge to get up and dance when listening to any track.”

“My album can surely be enjoyed by all generations. My song ‘Ikaw Lamang’ is perfect for primetime TV viewers because it sounds like a teleserye theme song. ‘Katawan-Legs’ medley is for the laid back; ‘Miss Miss’ is for the hot chicks; while ‘So Fly’ and ‘Rockin’ Them Jeans’ is a treat to those who love hiphop music,” explained Enrique, whose musical influences are Chris Brown and Billy Crawford.

Meanwhile, when asked if he is ready to be compared once again with former “Princess And I” co-star and fellow Star Records artist Daniel Padilla, Enrique said ‘yes.’

“I’m used to it. I’ve been compared with DJ (Daniel’s nickname) as an actor since we started ‘Princess and I.’ But I think both of us are unique as recording artists. DJ’s genre is more of rock-alternative, while my album carries upbeat and dance tracks,” said Enrique, who dreams of collaborating with Bamboo, Yeng Constantino, and his friends from Flip Music like Ron Henley and Abra.

Under the production of Star Records, featured in ‘King of the GIL’ are seven tracks including his carrier single na ‘

  • Oha (Kaya mo ba  ‘to?),’
  • ‘Miss Miss,’ ‘Ikaw Lamang,’
  • ‘So Fly,’ ‘Katawan-Legs’ medley,
  • ‘Tayo’y Magsayawan-Rock Baby Rock’ medley,
  • ‘Rockin’ Them Jeans’ featuring Tippy Dos Santos.

Enrique’s ‘King of the GIL’ album is now available on record bars nationwide for only P199. The tracks can also be downloaded via iTunes, Amazon.com and MyMusicStore.com.ph.

Way Back Home airs on Cinema One tonight !

Kathryn Bernardo and Julia Montes found themselves leveling up in drama after their soap Mara Clara. As the past show was a big hit, their rivalry was taken to the big screen via Way Back Home directed by Jerry Lopez Sineneng.

In the film, the middle child syndrome emancipates due to the return of an estranged younger sister. Separated while young, Jessica (Julia) lived in the shadow of regret upon literally losing Joanna (Kathryn). Joanna’s return however, didn’t cause Jessica to be jubilant; instead a conflict heightened and jealousy ensued.

Also in the cast are Agot Isidro, Lotlot de Leon, Tonton Gutierrez, Ahron Villena, Enrique Gil and Sam Concepcion.

According to a film review by Abby Mendoza of pep.com.ph, “It brings out one of the best dramatic scenes and emphatic dialogues primarily because relationships within the family are most relatable. Conflicts and dysfunction between parent and child or among siblings would always find an audience connecting to a particular character over another.”

Way Back Home premieres on Cinema One tonight at 8. Cinema One is available on SkyCable Gold, SkyCable Silver and other quality cable operators nationwide.

Gretchen Barretto very effective with Her Villainous Role in ‘Princess and I’!

Amid the huge following of the hit love quadrangle happening among the teen cast of ABS-CBN’s top-rating primetime series “Princess and I,” TV viewers cannot help but notice the regal presence of the show’s villainess, Ashi Behati, portrayed by award-winning actress Gretchen Barreto.

La Greta recently claimed the spotlight as she stirred up strong emotions among the loyal followers of “Princess and I” since her character arrived in the Philippines to check on her son Dasho Jao, played by young actorEnrique Gil.

Behati’s surprise visit to Manila was such a hit among viewers that it generated various reactions via Twitter–“‏@DJKathXstrology: Go Ashi Behati! Ilayo mo si Jao kay Mikay;” “‏@fontanillakat: I smell something fishy with the alliance of Ashi Behati and Gino’s Mom;” “@ellalaaaaaaa: I’m excited to see Gretchen dressing-up, abandoning her Yangdon costume! She is surely stunning;” and “‏@MaxineFernandez: Welcome to the Philippines Ashi Behati! I love you so much. Salamat naman at dumating ka na!” Being showbiz’ queen of high fashion and reminiscent of her “Magkaribal” days, fans of the “Princess and I” are already anticipating for the trends that Gretchen will come up with as Ashi Behati dons her ‘Manila royalty look’ in the next weeks to come.

What will be Ashi Behati’s role in Jao and Mikay’s (Kathryn Bernardo) love story—will she prevent her son from falling in love for a Filipino commoner or will Mikay’s good influence on Jao earn Behati’s approval? But how will Behati react once she finds out that Mikay, the girl who her son loves so much, is the long lost princess of Yangdon whom she once attempted to get rid off?

Like its story that gets more compelling night after night, the national TV ratings of “Princess And I” continues to leave the competition behind. Based on the combined average of nationwide urban and rural ratings of Kantar Media last June 20, it garnered 39.1% national TV ratings compared to its rival program in GMA, “Luna Blanca” which only got 15.7%, registering a 23.4 difference. The show remains the top 2 most watched TV program in the Philippines, next to “Walang Hanggan.”
