ABS-CBN Dominates National TV Ratings in November!

More Filipino households across urban and rural homes nationwide tuned in to the top-caliber programs produced by ABS-CBN Corporation this November, scoring an average audience share of 44%, or 11 points ahead of GMA’s audience share of 33%, based on recent data from Kantar Media.

ABSNovember

Kantar Media uses a nationwide panel size of 2,609 urban and rural homes that represent 100% of the total Philippine TV viewing population, while the other ratings data supplier AGB Nielsen reportedly has only 1,980 homes based solely in urban areas that represent only 57% of the Philippine TV viewing population.

Data showed that ABS-CBN maintained its primetime (6PM-12MN) supremacy with an average audience share of 48%, or 16 points higher than GMA’s 32%. The strong performance was driven by the network’s quality line-up of drama teleseryes, including the number one most watched program “Honesto” with an average national TV rating of 28.9%.

ABS-CBN Primetime Bida also ruled in other key territories such as Balance Luzon (areas in Luzon outside Mega Manila) with an average audience share of 51% compared to GMA’s 33%; in Visayas where it recorded 65%, or more than thrice as GMA’s 20%; and in Mindanao with 62% against GMA’s 23%.

The primetime block is the most important part of the day when most Filipinos watch TV and advertisers put a larger chunk of their investment in to reach more consumers effectively.

Aside from leading in primetime, ABS-CBN also continued to beat other networks across all programming blocks.

The morning (6AM-12MN) block recorded an average audience share of 37% vs GMA’s 33%.

The early afternoon (12NN-3PM) block hit 41%, while GMA got 37%. It was driven by the noontime show “It’s Showtime,” which again overtook “Eat Bulaga” in ratings game.

ABS-CBN’s late afternoon block (3PM-6PM) scored 43%, or 11-point higher than GMA’s 32%.

“TV Patrol” remained as the most trusted TV newscast as it registered an average national TV rating of 27.5% beating again GMA’s “24 Oras” with only 17.2%. It also clinched the second spot on the top 15 list of most watched programs in the country in November.

Judy Ann Santos’ “Bet On Your Baby” (26.2%), on the other hand, climbed to the fourth spot from seventh place in the previous month.

Other programs in the top 15 produced by ABS-CBN include “Wansapanataym,” “Got To Believe,” “Annaliza,” Maalaala Mo Kaya,” “Goin’ Bulilit,” “Rated K,” “TV Patrol Weekend,” “Be Careful With My Heart,” and “ Maria Mercedes.”

Kantar Media is a leading television (TV) audience measurement provider with capabilities in gathering TV viewing data in both digital and analog platforms. Thea Tolentino: Girl on fire in ‘Pyra Babaeng Apoy’ cast and synopsis revealed!

Imagine yourself having the ability to create, manipulate and be able to hold fire in your hands? Will you be brave enough to use this gift? Or will you suppress this uncanny ability?

Pyrokinesis is the ability of a person to project fire from their mind or to simply think it to being. Although there is no evidence or scientific documentation to support this, there are a number of people around the world who claim that they possess pyrokinetic powers.

In July 2012, there were even reports of an eleven-year-old boy with super psychic abilities that drew hundreds of curious people, including the media, to her home in Gubat, Sorsogon, Philippines. According to news reports, one of his abilities is to mysteriously produce fire.  There is also a similar case of a three-year-old in Antique,  Philippines documented in March 2011. There are other such reports of the plausibility of pyrokinesis from all over the world.

This August, GMA Network explores this special power via its newest drama-fantasy themed series that will surely fire up afternoon viewing – ‘Pyra Babaeng Apoy.’

Pyra1-375x198

Thea Tolentino, one of Kapuso Network’s fast-rising artists, topbills the newest GMA Afternoon Prime series as she breathes life to the character of Pyra. Playing opposite her is GMA’s upcoming leading man Jeric Gonzales who plays the role of Jeffrey Calida, an uptight and perfectionist geek who will eventually fall for Pyra.

The series also stars Angelu de Leon, who is reunited with Thea and Jeric following the success of the teen-oriented series Teen Gen, as she portrays the role of Merly, the fiercely protective mom of Pyra. Multi-talented TV personality Gladys Reyes plays the role of Susan Del Fierro, an achiever, go getter and someone who will not stop until she gets what she wants. Versatile actress Roxanne Guinoo plays the role of Barbara Del Fierro, the biological mother of Pyra.

Joining them are character actors Ryan Eigenmann as Daniel Del Fierro, the  domineering husband of Barbara; Christopher Roxas as Ramon, a fire breather and the biological father of Pyra; and Polo Ravales as Tito, the best friend of Daniel  who holds most of the latter’s secrets.

Completing the cast are the fresh faces of drama, Elle Ramirez as Cindy Del Fierro and Zandra Summer as Ena; and adding rhythm to the series is the country’s King of Soul in an endearing depiction of Pyra’s doting mentor Sir Aidan, Mr. Janno Gibbs.

Synopsis:

In the series, Pyra, a born pyrokinetic, has the ability to create fire and this usually happens when she experience extreme anger. Because of this, she learns how to control her emotions and develops a sunny disposition and positive outlook in life. Although she grew up not knowing who her real parents are, Pyra is raised by a very loving and fiercely protective mother Merly.

And though Pyra is already able to control her pyrokinetic abilities, there are still instances that could trigger her emotional outbursts, which could eventually result to her hurting the people around her.

Will Pyra be able to know and find her real parents? And if she does, will she choose her real parents or the person who raised and showered her with love? How will her loved ones protect her when they know that she has the special ability that could cause harm to other people? Will Pyra be able to fully control her pyrokinetic abilities?

Under the direction of Roderick Lindayag, the director behind the top-rating programs Alakdana, Ikaw Lang ang Mamahalin, Hiram na Puso and Kakambal ni Eliana among others, Pyra Babaeng Apoy also shows how far a mother would protect her child from the world especially when she knows that her child could cause harm to other people.

The creative team is composed of Creative Director Jun Lana; Afternoon Prime Head Roy Iglesias; Creative Consultant Kit Langit; Headwriter Des Garbes-Severino; Writers Ana Aleta-Nadela, Rona Lean Sales, and Angeli Delgado; and Brainstormers Jason John Lim and Homer Novicio.

Created by the GMA Drama Group, Pyra Babaeng Apoy is supervised by the Executive In-charge of Production Lilybeth G. Rasonable; VP for Drama Redgie Acuña Magno; AVP for Drama Cheryl Ching-Sy; Program Manager Hazel F. Abonita; and Executive Producer Joy Lumboy-Pili.

Katrina Halili and Ryan Eigenmann joins the cast of “Indio” starting this week!

GMA’s primetime fantasy series, Indio, becomes even more exciting beginning this week as the show welcomes two new cast members: Katrina Halili, who will play the role of Burigadang Pada Sinaklang Bulawan; and Ryan Eigenmann, who will portray Sidapa, the god of death.

 katrayan

The move marks Katrina and Ryan’s return to the realm of fantasy.

Will they be a friend or a foe to Simeon, the lead character of the epic series portrayed by Sen. Ramon Bong Revilla, Jr.?

Well, Katrina is going to be an antagonist, a gorgeous supernatural being who will make Simeon’s goal of defending the natives from the brutality of the Spanish conquistadores a Herculean task.  Katrina’s character is a goddess of greed and vengeance.  She will avenge the death of her only brother Paiburong (Mike Gayoso), a diwata with the guise of a crocodile who was killed by Simeon.

On the other hand, Ryan’s character (Sidapa) is a little bit tricky since he is not totally evil.  In fact, even if his task is to make sure that the dead dies, he wants to be fair to everyone.  However, a twist in the story, which will be revealed in the coming weeks, will change all that.

Katrina was chosen for the role because of her convincing portrayal of similar characters in GMA’s top-rating fantasy series in the past like Valentina in “Darna” and Lady Mantisa in “Gagambino.”  Ryan, on the other hand, is a “veteran” when it comes to portraying as a villain, and he being chosen for the role in Indio doesn’t really come to viewers as a surprise.  What’s more intriguing is how these two characters will affect the story of the series.

Find out how Katrina Halili and Ryan Eigenmann will “rock the boat” so to speak and make a mess out of Simeon’s life in “Indio” beginning April 15 (Monday). Top billed by Sen. Ramon Bong Revilla, Jr. and directed by Dondon Santos, Indio airs weeknights after 24 Oras on GMA-7.

“Temptation of Wife” nears its heart-stopping finale next week!

GMA Network’s top-rating Pinoy version of the hit Koreanovela Temptation of Wife concludes its run with a heart-stopping finale week from April 1 to April 5.

temptation of wife

The series is regarded as one of the most watched programs on GMA Telebabad, consistently posting high numbers in the ratings game since it began airing on October 29, 2012.

The entire cast led by Marian Rivera, Dennis Trillo, Glaiza de Castro, and Rafael Rosell together with Rio Locsin, Raymond Bagatsing, Michelle Madrigal, Antonio Aquitania, Ayen Munji-Laurel, Bettina Carlos, Rez Cortez, and Ms. Cherie Gil delivered commendable portrayals of their respective characters that hooked viewers from start to finish.

Viewers are eagerly looking forward on how the Pinoy adaptation of the series will conclude especially the fate of the characters of Angeline, Nigel, Heidi, and Marcel.

Who will Angeline choose in the end? Will it be Nigel who stood by her all throughout her ordeals or will it still be Marcel, the man who broke her heart but continues to pursue her until the very end? Will Heidi’s endless quest for revenge against Angeline bring her peace and happiness at last?

Under the direction of Dominic Zapata, Temptation of Wife airs weeknights after Mundo Mo’y Akin on GMA Telebabad.
