LJ and CJ got past the crocodiles test and dangerous motocross ride during the final leg which was held in one of the world’s biggest cities, Davao.

The celebrity bestfriends bested the brothers-in-law team of Fausto and Dayal and the gymbuddies team ofMarc and Kat as they reached the 13th and final pit stop first for the P2 million grand prize and the honor of becoming first ever winners of “The Amazing Race Philippines.”

It’s interesting to note that in all 13 legs of the season, it was only in the Davao leg–the final and most important–that LJ and CJ became the first team to reach the pit stop. Fausto and Dayal captured first place during the 4th, 7th, 9th and 10th legs while Marc and Kat finished first during the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 8th, 11th and 12th legs.

‘The Amazing Race Philippines’ Airs Finale Tonight!

The three-way battle for glory and P2-million gets more intense as The Amazing Race Philippines (TARP) reaches the Final Pit Stop this Saturday (December 15) after Talentadong Pinoy Worldwide on TV5.

TARP-Top-3

After 12 gruelling legs which tested each team’s strength and determination to stay ahead of the game, the country’s biggest and most expensive reality show this year is set to begin its final leg in one of the world’s biggest cities, Davao, with the final three teams – LJ and CJ (team celebrity friends), Marc and Kat (team gym buddies) and Fausto and Dayal (team magbayaw).

The Davao leg promises viewers some heart-stopping action as the last three teams will be put to test if they can get past the crocodiles and dangers of a motocross ride.

The remaining three teams bested eight teams – reunited friends Sheena and Gee (4th place), amigas Saida and Jervi (5th place), magkumpares Boom and Cheng (6th place), father and daughter Ed and Angel (7th place), bombshells Dani and Mish (8th place), Alabang housewives Pamela and Vanessa (9th place), football brothers and Anton and Armand (10th place) and dating couple Crystel and Mykey (11th place).

With host Derek Ramsay, the 11 teams were able to explore the beauty of the Philippines as they traversed some of the best spots in the country. Kicking off the race in Manila, the teams journeyed to Ilocos, Mountain Province and Baguio in the north, Central Luzon’s Subic and Clark to the Southern parts of Albay, Cebu, Boracay, Sabang Island, Puerto Princesa, and Davao – in what could be the biggest and most exciting race of their lives.

For the past six weeks, The Amazing Race Philippines has become one of TV5’s most top-rated primetime shows for 2012. To thank its loyal viewers, the 11 TARP teams held a grand fans’ day last Thursday at the Kapatid Network’s studio in Novaliches.

The producers will also showcase the show’s special reunion episode after its finale on Saturday.

Get to know TARP : Magkumpare – Boom Vergara and Cheng Enriquez!

Both single fathers who ventured overseas to support their families, Boom and Cheng are also avid motorcycle riders who know how to work around the different circumstances they encounter.

Not comfortable about making alliances with other teams, the self-proclaimed “Bash Brothers” rely less on athleticism and more on street smarts. They also have an uncanny level of confidence on and off-camera that they believe is more than enough to get them over the humps.

Get to know TARP : Alabang housewives – Vanessa Ishitani and Pamela Spella!

If money is not an object, these rich and bored housewives from Alabang can easily buy their way into victory.

After all, they offered to buy Derek Ramsay just to make sure he’ll host “The Amazing Race Philippines.”

But the rules of the race require all teams to make the most out of their limited money and that is the biggest challenge for Pam and Vanessa. Considered to be the comic relief of the reality series, these ladies may actually prove naysayers wrong and surprise everyone with a good finish.

Get to know TARP : Gym buddies – Marc Dungo and Kat Tan!

Sharing the same passion for fitness, Marc and Kat obviously have the discipline and temperament to take on this extremely challenging race.

Physical tasks are no big deal to them and might be an advantage to people who consider health their priority. But a few things may hinder the power partners: Mark has fear of heights and being in the water for too long. Kat, on the other hand, is very conscious about what she puts inside her body. They may have to conquer those fears if they are to win this thing.

Get to know TARP : Reunited friends – Sheena Vera Cruz and Speedy Canlas!

The Philippine All Stars alum (Sheena) and TV presenter (Speedy) both have a dancing background that suggests that they’re fit and agile enough to handle the physical challenges.

The real challenge is whether the college BFFs still know and appreciate each other that well. The race will certainly test their friendship to its extreme limits. The bubbly duo admits to having reviewed previous seasons of the show so at least they’ve done their homework.

Get to know TARP : Father and daugther – Angel and Ed Movido!

So what were they thinking? If you ask both Mang Ed and Angel this question, their likely answer would be, they think they can actually win.

Mang Ed said he was pretty athletic during his younger years and Angel, a PTV-4 news anchor, added she has no regrets asking her dad to be her partner.

This can only mean the family tandem has more than a few tricks up their sleeve. More than any other pair, they actually have no problem embracing their underdog label. Underestimate them at your own risk.

Get to know TARP : Celebrity bestfriends – CJ Jaravata and LJ Moreno!

Their longtime friendship is only half their advantage.

A big fan of “The Amazing Race” knows every possible answer to any trivia question about the series, including and especially the rules, CJ was picked by no less than Derek as his teammate of choice if he were going to be a contestant. LJ was one of the formidable players in “Pinoy Fear Factor,” where her stunts included eating a sheep’s brains and eyes and hanging onto a trapeze attached to a moving helicopter. Fearless competitor indeed.

Get to know TARP : Alpha Femmes – Dani Castaño and Mish Van Ruvyen!

There’s certainly more to them than their drop dead gorgeous figures.

Dani represented the country during the 2008 Miss World pageant in South Africa, while Mish is an entrepreneur and a budding events host. Although raised overseas, they do profess a mutual love for local travel and cuisine, which also means that they know enough about the Philippines and its culture. They’re also pretty good at the one thing everyone needs to win the race—run.

Get to know TARP : Brothers-in-law – Fausto Reyes and Dayal Chowdary, Jr.!

If the bold declarations of Fausto and Dayal at the ‘The Amazing Race Philippines” presscon about doing whatever it takes to win is to be believed, then they could be the resident villains of the race.

After all, bending the rules is not necessarily breaking them.

The pair believes that having opposite personalities (Dayal is temperamental while Fausto is cool as a cucumber) can actually boost their chances as winning is all just a matter of balancing their good and bad traits.
