Ellona Santiago made it through to the Top 12 of “The X-Factor USA”!

The 17-year-old Filipino-American singer Ellona Santiago made it to the Top 12 of “The X-Factor USA” on Tuesday night!


Her standout rendition of Britney Spears’ “Til The World Ends” wowed the judges and even a standing ovation from her coach Demi Lovato.

This is what the judges has to say on her performance!

Kelly Rowland:

“That was so magical and you were on fire and the fact that you were [dancing] and singing at the same time is so impressive. You are going to be one to watch in the competition. Demi, you cannot let her go.”


Paulina Rubio:

“Wow, wow, wow! That was the best opening for this. This is the live show. That’s unbelievable. I loved you from the beginning until the end. Congratulations. Really a good job.”

Simon Cowell:

“I could remember there was some indecision from Demi whether she’s going to put you through or not and I kind of feel responsible. I believed in you. I was right. What I love about you, Ellona, is that you’re here to win it, not just to take part in a competition but to win it and go on to a solo record. If she’s one of my girls, I’d keep her.”

Demi Lovato:

“I am so proud of you. I gave you a standing ovation. I don’t know if you saw it. You really, really kicked butt and I’m so proud you worked it and you were a true diva up there. You were amazing.”

The other contestants to join Santiago in the top 12 are Rion Paige, Khaya Cohen, Carlito Olivera, Carlos Guevera, Tim Olstad, Rachel Potter, Jeff Gutt, Lillie McCloud, Restless Road, Alex and Sierra and Sweet Suspense.

TV5’s “Kanta Pilipinas” Top 12 revealed!

‘Kanta Pilipinas’ Top 12 finalists have finally been revealed after a series of intensive final castings. Together, these voices are expected to make the whole nation sing as the first original singing reality search continues on TV5 every Saturday at 9:00 PM.


Making the cut to form the Top 12 are:

  • Fil-Spanish rock princess Thara Jordana,
  • brother-sister duo Nicole and Carlo David,
  • the girl-next-door from Davao Dea Formilleza,
  • Fil-Am crooner Timmy Pavino,
  • music wonder from Quezon City Allan Gonzales,
  • singing hunk group 5az1,
  • Cebuana diva and the singing ambassadress of Operation Smile Chadleen Lacdo-o,
  • Las Piñas’ dynamic singing duo Daniel Grospe and JB Landrito,
  • the “sweet voice of Bicol” Pia Diamante,
  • former New Born Divas member Jeniffer Maravilla,
  • Ilonggo rakista Ricky Deloviar
  • Boracay-based singer-songwriter Ferns Tosco.

Kanta Pilipinas host Rico Blanco along with judges – Asia’s Nightingale Ms. Lani Misalucha and the Maestro of Filipino music Mr. Ryan Cayabyab with guest judge Mr. Vehnee Saturno — found it difficult to pick among the top auditionees. “It was hard for us to eliminate, we have been very careful in deliberating the final auditionees and needless to say, they are all very talented”, shared Mr. C.

The competition is bound to get tougher as the Top 12 battle it out for music stardom, a grand prize of PhP1 million and a recording contract. Catch their inspiring stories and their unique talents as Kanta Pilipinas continues this Saturday, 9pm on TV5.

‘The X Factor Philippines’ Top 12 Will Now Vie for the Public Votes!

The country’s biggest musical event of the year “The X Factor Philippines” recently unveiled its 12 finalists who will compete in the much-awaited live shows beginning this Saturday (Aug 4) and face the fifth and most critical judge in the competition— the viewing public.

Judge-mentor Martin Nievera, together with international singing sensation Arnel Pineda as his chosen guest celebrity judge, picked student Gabriel Anciano, college graduate Jeric Medina, and another student,Kedebon Colim, to represent the Boys (solo male performers 16-25 yrs old).

Freelance singer Allen Sta. Maria, dive guide Jerrianne Templo, and band vocalist KZ Tandingan, on the other hand, will represent the Girls (solo female performers 16-25 yrs old) as chosen by their judge-mentorCharice with the help of her guest celebrity judge and fellow Pinay pride Cheesa, who recently became a finalist in the hit US singing competition “The Voice.”

In the Over 25s category (solo performers 26 yrs old and above), judge-mentor Pilita Corrales, together with guest celebrity judge Rico J. Puno, put through musician Joan Da, freelance singer Mark Mabasa, and former security officer Modesto Taran to advance to the final round.

The Groups (16 yrs old and above) category composed of all-male quartet Daddy’s Home, boyband Take Off, and all girl group Lucky Girls wouldn’t be left behind as they were chosen by their judge-mentor Gary Valenciano with the help of guest celebrity judge and world champion Jed Madela.

The final 12 will battle it out in the live shows starting Saturday (Aug 4) at the PAGCOR Grand Theater in Paranaque where they will sing various movie theme songs.

Their future now lies in the hands of the public who will decide via text vote who among them should stay in the competition and who among them shall leave. The finalist with the lowest number of overnight text votes will be booted off in the show.

Whose ‘x factor’ will shine best and who will be exed out of the competition? Who among the judge-mentors will say goodbye to one of their three chosen finalists by Sunday?
